We vampires do not make easy prey. Our weaknesses are few, our strengths many. Fear is something we do not know, and death but a distant memory. So tread softly, pray to your god, and gird yourself with silver when the moons arise and night’s dark prince awakens. We fear not the wizard, nor the warrior, neither rogue, nor priest; our strength is timeless, drawn from darkness and we know no master save the hot lust of our unending hunger. We long for blood, your blood and no blade, nor spell, nor clever artifice, can keep us long from our prize. Feel our teeth at your throat, your life ebb from you, and know as darkness comes to claim you that the price of your folly is your everlasting soul.

I change shape and take to the air. It is a clear, cold night, with no clouds to hinder my vision. Below me, the dark canopy of the forest bears an even darker scar; the trail of the old river and its sister road to town and Arcalian.

Despite my near limitless power, I am cautious about openly wandering in a human city on a clear night. I have had run-ins with them before and I have no wish to draw undue notice. I soar in a long gliding circle to free my mind for concentration.

It takes but a moment.

Then the storm begins to build, drawing in clouds from the distant sea. They roil and churn in the darkening night, reaching forth with long writhing tendrils as if to grasp the town with a shadowy hand. A chilling gust of wind sweeps through the forest trees and the mists boil forth from the valley floor. All told, I spend an hour circling the town while the storm gathers its strength. Then, as the first lightnings begin to flash and the rains begin to fall, I descend on shadowy wings into the heart of Drisdak, the city on the Sea of Sorrows.

The mages guild is easy to find; its rancid stench of magic can be smelled from blocks away. It’s a tall building, made of stone, looking more like a miniature keep than a guild house. Five circular towers loom up from a central stone edifice. I have no doubt that Arcalian can be found in the highest tower in the room of the guild master, undoubtedly basking in the luxuries my services provided.

There are many different types of vampires in fiction today, there's the sparkling vampires in Twilight, the warrior vampires in The Black Dagger Brotherhood, the Atlantian vampires in Argeneau novels to name just a few. Each is different in their own right. The vampires in Drasmyr are not like any of these.

This is much more true to the legends we grew up on (well, at least I grew up with), the Dracula myth. It also includes mages, though in other myths you might call them witches.

Though this is classified as a YA novel, I myself didn't get that vibe, adults would easily enjoy this book along with teens 14 and up. There is also quite a bit of action going on.

Matthew D. Ryan tells a dark haunting story, with a strong plot, engaging characters with a mystery wound within it's pages. I found it very difficult to put this book down. This is one author that I will be keeping an eye on.

This title is currently free at B&N, Smashwords, and Amazon. Go get your copy today.

Matthew D. Ryan is awarding a package of metal miniatures of vampires/vampire hunters to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. This giveaway is only open to US and Canada residents.

So leave a comment and follow the tour for more chances to win here. The more comments you leave across the blogs, a greater chance you have to win.

Broken by Diane Alberts 1Night Stand Story

Welcome to Decadent Thursdays!

Title: Broken
Author: Diane Alberts
Genre: Contemporary, erotic romance, military romance
Heat level: 4
Source: My Kindle
Reviewer: Tamaria Soana
Pages: 39
Price: $2.99
Blurb: Staff Sergeant Matt Warwick returns from war with two broken legs—and a shattered future. Abandoned by his fiancĂ©e, he withdraws into a protective shell to hide from the pity filled glances thrown his way. His squad worries he’s fallen into depression, and arranges a 1NightStand through the renowned Madame Eve. Matt agrees but fears he will not be able to satisfy his date, for who would want a crippled man in her bed?

Tiffany Forsen escaped a brutal relationship, and seeks to jump-start her life with a fling. Bars aren’t her scene, so when she hears of the fabulous 1NightStand service, she contacts Madame Eve immediately. All she wants is a night of fun with the hot guy in her picture—but winds up with much more. Can she convince him that she doesn’t see a crippled man…but a hero?

Or will his defenses keep her at arm’s length?
Excerpt:
He snorted at the same time as he took a sip of champagne. It spewed out, spraying all over her chest. His hand covered his, but he ruined the effect by bursting into laughter.

“Well, I didn’t see that coming,” she murmured.

“I’m sorry. But if you could have seen the way you looked at me,” he managed through his laughter. He lost it again, doubling over in renewed merriment. Seeing him so happy, so carefree, made her lips twitch into a smile as well. “You’re so small, and dainty, but you looked ready to track her down and beat her to death. Maybe you should enlist in the Marines.”

“Hell no. Army brat all the way.”

“Blasphemy,” he said, wiping the tears from his cheeks. “God, Tiffany, I don’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. Or at all.”

Their gazes collided and they both froze. An invisible pull, some indescribable magnet, pulled them closer, even as it built up tension. Her stomach clenched, and her body tingled from head to toe. The man’s ability to weaken her with desire was laughable. If he made her this hot before trying, imagine what he’d be like in the bed. Or on the floor.

“Then it’s been too long.” She rose to her feet, ready to get things moving. She had the perfect excuse. Knees wobbling, she turned her back to him, slanting a coy look over her shoulder. “Can you unbutton me? I want to get out of this wet dress.”

He swallowed hard, set his champagne down next to hers, and wiped his palm on his jeans. Reaching out, he parted her dress one button at a time. His fingers brushed against her skin with each movement, making her bite back a moan. Her legs grew even weaker, her knees shaking. How much longer would she be able to remain standing?

When he reached the last button, right above her butt, she took a steadying breath, shrugged her shoulders free, and allowed the dress to float to her feet. He drew in a harsh breath behind her. She turned to him, her red lace panties and matching bra her only clothing. She kicked her sandals off, paused—dare she be so brave?—and slid onto his lap.

She didn’t tend to act so boldly, but damn, she needed him now. Not because it had been six months since she’d been laid. Not because she’d had a few glasses of champagne. No, she needed him now because of…well…him. From the moment she’d seen him, she’d craved him.

She met his eyes, running her fingers down the arms she’d been admiring from afar all night long. “Excuse my forwardness, but I can’t wait any longer to have you.”
~My Review~

Those of who know me are aware that I love the 1NS series, and that I'm a sap. I love stories that make me feel.

Tiffany and Matt are both broken for different reasons. Madam Eve brought them together for one night of passion but more then that transpired, mainly healing.

Miss Alberts puts you on an remarkable emotional journey in Broken. I cried many tears, but after reading the last word… I closed my Kindle with a smile.

I strongly recommend Broken so I proudly give it 5 stars!

YA Review: Seaweed

Seaweed by Elle Strauss
Series: N/A
Pages: 233
Genre: YA, Paranormal
Reading Level: 11 and up should be just fine
Source: Received in part of a blog tour for an honest review.
Rating: 4 stars out of 5

Dori Seward can’t wait to get out of Eastcove, a sleepy fishing village on the border of New Brunswick and Maine. She bides her time by hanging out with friends, attending swim club, and holding her biggest competition, Colby–who wants more than just friendship, at arm’s length.
Then Tor Riley comes to town and he has everything Dori dreams of in a boyfriend–looks, athleticism and mystery.
But Tor also has a tantalizing secret and Dori is determined to find out what it is. The truth is crazier than her wildest imaginations and more dangerous, too. Dori has new enemies, and they will do anything to get to her.
Her life, her dreams and her love for Tor are all weighing in the balance. Will Dori risk it all in order to have it all?

Seaweed is an enjoyable light read. I didn't care for the love triangle going on with the two male main characters. In fact that was the only main issue I had with it, that and Dori on occasion got my nerves. (I'm nor comparing it to any other YA book here)
It was well written, with an engaging story line, and a seamless blending of reality with the paranormal. It was also very well though out.
It is a good clean romance with a fast pace with an ending that will leave you wanting more, with hopefully a sequel. I would recommend this one to my readers with children, it'd hit perfect for the 12 to 15 crowd.
This ebook is one I would surely hand to my 13 year old daughter.

The giveaway is US and Canada only.

Decadent Thursday- Bittersweet Symphony

Bittersweet Symphony
Series: The Edge, Tales From the Coffin
Publisher: Decadent Publishing
Pages: 25
Genre: Erotica, paranormal
Reading Level: 18+
Source: Received from publisher for an honest review
Reviewer: Viari Rose
Blurb: The Bone Cruncher hasn’t visited in a while, and Estella thinks it’s something she did. Misery loves company, but she loves food more. Putting on a smile, she musters up an erotic story. But can she make it to the end of the tale without comfort eating?
To onlookers, Seren lived the high life in London with her orchestra conductor of a husband. She had a major case of unrequited love for her best friend, though, so their relationship was doomed from the beginning. Divorce papers served, it’s time for her to go back to her hometown on the England-Wales border and face the music.
Owen, now a postman of their little market town, is thrilled to see Seren when he shows up at her doorstep with mail. It’s not long before they’re releasing their pent up lust and love for each other. Within that mail, though, are letters addressed to Seren’s parents. They’re from her ex and hold a truth Seren is too fearful to face. Even with Owen by her side.

Tales from the Coffin are tales told by one vampire and a zombie, it is the third book in the series.
What we have here is a beautiful tale within a story. And all stories don't end happy, though this ones does...in a way. Beautifully written, that skirts that wonderful line of what I find comfortable. It's a world that I would love to fall into again and again.

The doorbell chimed.
Kitted out in her mother’s quilted pink dressing gown, Seren slipped her feet into fuzzy slippers—pink and oh so warm—and slumped her way to the front door of her family home.
She eased it open, hoping it was her parents loaded with luggage and tales of adventures from an impromptu holiday they’d taken to Mykonos or the Maldives. Yes, that had to be it, she convinced herself. They were impulsive when it came to travel, and rarely did they include her in such details until their return. Never mind that they would think the place empty, and that they would have a key. She still hoped it would be them.
“I didn’t expect to you to be here, Seren. HelĂ´ cariad.”
No. It couldn’t be. No one but Owen spoke Welsh to her. It meant “hello love.” A rush of childhood memories flooded her, and a sense of homecoming she’d been searching for caressed her and squeezed at her heart. His familiar face felt like a warm caress on the bitter winter morning.
He’d built himself out since the last time she’d seen him at the town social five years earlier. Whenever she’d visited home, she always made it quick and avoided town and his usual hangouts. Mainly because it saved having to explain to Andrew that he was just a friend. She had become sick of trying to prove that point to her husband.
Wearing a navy blue postal uniform, he emanated compassion and tenderness through every crinkle in his face. Mouth tilted into a smile, wooly hat pulled down, and scarf wrapped high up to the man’s chin, she’d know those bright silver eyes peeking through the fringe of his hair any day.
“Owen!” she squealed, ever so happy to be reunited with her friend. But his grin turned awkward, and his feet fidgety, his discomfort a reminder of their terrible parting five years earlier. She didn’t know whether to apologize or fling her arms around him.
Blocked by indecision, she twiddled her fingers against her robe and hoped he would say something to signal they were okay.
Perhaps sensing her unease, he edged forward and reached for her hand but quickly backed up. “I haven’t seen you since—”
“Since I made a fool of myself and announced we should make use of the coat room.”

Bound by Pleasure VBT + Giveaway

Can Megan let her guard down enough to experience the pleasures Greg has to give?
Megan thinks she knows all about the BDSM lifestyle. Her best friend is active in it and she is an erotic romance author who writes about the lifestyle. So when Megan decides to explore it first hand, she learns quickly that everything she thought she knew, she didn’t.

Greg isn’t your typical Dom. He’s an artist and his life is anything but organized. He likes Megan from the start. She’s honest and he sees something in her. The more time he spends with her, the more he finds himself acting in ways he never has before. He decides to see if she might feel the same way, but the more he pushes to get her to open up, the more it seems she’s stepping away.

Can Megan sort out her feelings before it’s too late?

Turning off the car, Megan grabbed her purse. She quickly checked her makeup and hair in the rearview mirror. It was now or never. Taking a deep breath, she climbed out of her car and headed for the front door. The house was gorgeous and the yard was well taken care of. Once she made it up the stone walkway, she saw that the door was ajar. Strange.

She pushed it open and called out and was greeted by a deep voice that echoed from somewhere in the back. He directed her to go to his study which she would find to her left.

Well, she had made it this far, and he knew she was here—there was no turning back now. Once again she took a deep breath, and she made her way to his study. The door was closed when she found it, so once inside the room she made sure to shut it back.

Megan couldn’t believe the sight of his office. It was in complete disarray. Not one bit of organization. There were half started paintings on canvases scattered here and there, and piles of paper stacked on the bookshelves and desk. Perhaps it was best to get out of there. She couldn’t understand why Dawn had recommended him. This was not what she’d expected at all.

Right as she was about to leave she heard the doorknob jiggle. Her eyes widened as she wondered what to do next. Should she meet him on her knees? Or simply take a seat in a chair since this was only an interview? She opted for the chair and sat just as he walked in.
It took every ounce of Megan’s self-control not to let her mouth drop open when she saw the man who presented himself in front of her. Once again, this was not what she had expected. In strutted a man in loose, ripped jeans and a baggy t-shirt. He had sandy brown hair that was long and tied back in a ponytail. His eyes were crystal blue. A gorgeous smile was plastered on his face as he took a seat directly in front of her on a bar stool.

“You must be Megan,” he said.

“I am.” She had no idea how to address him or what to say.

“I apologize for keeping you waiting.” He reached over and took a piece of paper from the pile on his desk. “I looked over your application, and I see that you only have a little experience in this lifestyle. Have you ever had a Master?”

“No,” she responded.

Greg’s eyes drifted up and down her body. If she wasn’t feeling self-conscious before, she definitely was now.

“Is something wrong?” he asked.

“No, why?”

“You have to be honest with me or else I won’t even consider you. Trust is very important in a relationship such as you’re wanting to enter into.”

Taking a deep breath, she blurted out, “To be frank, you’re not what I was expecting.”
He chuckled. “Continue.”

“You’re so laid back, your office is not organized, and well, as I said, you are not what I was at all expecting.”

“Tell me then, what were you expecting?”

“A businessman with a powerful job.”

Spotlight on Phantom + Giveaway

Phantom by Laura DeLuca
The “Phantom” was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses “Phantom” as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker who uses the lines from the play as their calling card.

Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her character, she is torn between her two co-stars—Tom the surfer and basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured artist.

Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca doesn’t know who to trust, but she knows she’s running out of time as she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is stripped away, will the twenty first century phantom finally be revealed.

One Phantom Prize Pack, It includes a signed copy of the book, a geode , two full size boxes of incense, a mini pack of incense with holder, two rough crystal points, a crystal cluster, a crystal pendant, a stone vile pendant, and a sage smudge stick.

Decadent Thursday: Night of the Doms Review

Night of the Doms by Erykah Wyck
Series: The Doms of Club D, Edge
Publisher: Decadent Publishing
Pages: 20
Genre: erotica, bdsm, menage
Reading Level: 18+
Source: Received from publisher for an honest review
Reviewer: Lacey Wolfe
Blurb: Take one submissive with separation anxiety. Add one master who has never wanted to settle down. Mix in three Doms with specialties that make people’s toes curl. And you have a recipe for Sex, Bondage and Orgasmic release. Can Reyes heal and restore Ginny’s sense of security? Or will a night of Doms prove too much for her to endure?

The Edge series from Decadent is all about giving readers a book that is packed full of hot sex. And yes, this story, Night of the Doms delivered. There wasn't just one Dom in this story...but multiple. The heroine of the story is afraid of being alone and in the beginning, she fears her Master has done just that. But, soon multiple hands are caressing and touching her most intimate places and she knows she is no longer alone.

Normally I would have liked a little more story line with my sexy story, but as a reader I had to keep in mind that was not the point of the book. Now, that doesn't mean this was just hot and fabulous Dom/sub sex. There was a inner story line that dealt with love that as a reader I enjoyed following and the way it played out. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone needing to rev up those engines. Erykah Wyck has definitely delivered just that!

But first she had to prove to him as well as to herself that she could trust again. After a quick glance at the clock on the wall, he stood. His heels clicked on the tiled floor, echoing through the Spartan room. With the exception of the St. Andrews’ Cross, and the chair he’d vacated, only a daybed sat in the corner. Unlike the voyeur rooms on the main floor, this was a private space on the lower level of the club. A bouncer stood guard in the hallway to ensure the privacy of the guests within.

She tilted her face in the direction of his sound. He held his hand centimeters above her skin, close enough to feel her heat. He would see if she could prove to both him and herself she had the ability to trust. After a year of working and earning her faith, everything came down to what happened now. Did she have the confidence in him to take care of her needs and wants, to be what she required, and to know that her submissiveness to him would be cherished as a supreme gift?

Leaning over her, he whispered, “Do as you’re told and trust in me.”

Erykah Wyck has a dark side that most who know her never knew existed. Living near her two favorite places, the mountains and the sea, Erykah finds inspiration in living out her dreams and fantasies.
