A  Pleasure Inn Series Steamy Short.
Featuring  Logan  and  Elyse  from  Master  of  The  Inn.

Meet the first guests to stay at Pleasure Inn…
Where all of your fantasies become reality.

Professor Marcus Santos has become unsatisfied in his life. His career is at an all time high but he has no one to share it with. He’s buried himself in his work for so long he’s missed out on a social life. His policy of not dating university students has limited his search to find the perfect girlfriend. While out at a bar one night he runs into his intriguing research assistant. Their brief encounter changes the dynamics of their relationship.

Shy graduate student Jacqueline Kincaid has been taken with Professor Santos since her freshman year. His charismatic personality and driven work ethic drew her to him, but now that she’s getting to know him on a personal level she can’t get him out of her head. He shows interest in her but won’t take things further than kissing.

Marcus offers her a special graduation present. Spend two nights at Pleasure Inn with him. Jacqueline jumps at the chance to move forward in their new relationship. Now that she’s no longer his student he wants more with her. Pleasure Inn is just the place to make all of their fantasies realty.

Excerpt:

Jacqueline stood at the large picture window. Coming up behind her, Marcus wrapped his arms around her waist and took in the sweet aroma of her hair. He loved the way her fragrance lingered in his car or office hours after they had parted. Her signature smell was a constant reminder of her and the memory of it had gotten him through some long, sleepless nights these past couple of months.

“You smell so good.” He moved her hair to the side and trailed his lips along her neck. He’d always been so careful with her. He never wanted to overstep or make her feel uncomfortable. Her decision to spend the weekend with him had changed things. He couldn’t seem to keep his hands off her.

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to touch you like this.” Their casual dates and late night research sessions were getting harder to deal with. Each time he took her back to her apartment he’d prayed for her to invite him in. He often wondered if he would accept. She seemed to quietly respect his position on the subject of dating students. Always letting him take the lead, she never pushed him further than he was willing to go. He appreciated that, but he had to find a way to make her see just how much she meant to him.

“What took you so long, Professor?” She leaned her head back offering him more of her neck. “I was beginning to think it was me.”

“Never.” He gripped her hips before slipping his hands under the thin material of her t-shirt. “I have rules. At least, I did before I met you.” He circled his fingertips along the soft skin of her stomach. “I don’t like to create chaos.”

“Is that what I am?” She placed her hands over his and guided them to her breasts. His palms grazed her hardened nipples. “Chaotic?”

Her boldness surprised him but didn’t stop him from cupping her full breasts in his hands. “Now that you’re no longer my student…” He swirled his thumbs over her aroused nipples. “I’ll create as much chaos with you as you can handle.”

She turned to face him, his hands still caressing her nipples through the lace of her bra. Leaning closer to him, she brushed her lips along his jaw as she threaded her fingers through his hair. “I want more.”

“You’ll have it.” He removed his hands from underneath her shirt. “I promise.”

An affair and a shocking secret threaten to tear apart a rich and powerful family.

Claudia Samson, housekeeper to the privileged Callahan family, finds herself alone and pregnant after a brief fling with Gavin, the youngest Callahan son. When she informed him of the pregnancy he accused her of running a scam and made it clear that she was on her own.

Brody Callahan, Gavin's older half-brother, has devoted his entire life to running the family business. He doesn't realize what he's been missing by throwing himself into his work until he finds Claudia asleep in the family guest bedroom. He has discovered his very own Sleeping Beauty. Intrigued by the young woman, he vows to get to know her better.

Although Claudia is instantly attracted to the charismatic businessman, she knows her secret will destroy any chance they have for a future together, but Brody's awfully hard to resist.

Meanwhile, as Gavin watches Brody and Claudia's relationship develop, he begins to devise a plan to use the secret to his advantage. He wants full partnership in the business—something he was denied by both his brother and their deceased father—and maybe now he can finally obtain it.

Can Brody and Claudia survive the storm, or will the secrets and blackmail destroy both them and their love?

~Excerpt~

When Claudia made her way outside, the limo was there, but the driver wasn't. She looked around, but didn't see him. She decided to get in and wait for him. He'd have to come back for the car sooner or later.

She opened the door and slipped inside, placing her bag on the floor. She was grateful the air conditioning was on in the car, another perk the bus didn't have.

"Hello, sweetheart."

"Brody?" She looked up and saw him sitting next to her. "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see you." He moved his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. "I missed you." He freed her hair from her ponytail and shook it out with his fingers so that it fell down her back and over her shoulders. "Much better, princess."

She laughed because she had just thought of him as The Prince. If he only knew.

"What is it?"

"I'm happy to see you." She giggled. "You make things much better."

"Hard day?"

She leaned closer to him, took his face between her hands, and kissed him. At first, she moved slowly, but the way he looked at her with those smoldering eyes told her everything she needed to know. He was just as excited to see her as she was to see him.

She ran her tongue along his lips, begging for entrance. He eagerly accepted as he parted them and slipped his tongue inside her mouth. His breath was hot and his lips were hungry as he kissed her with more force than she expected. She moved her hands up and twisted her fingers in his hair, moving him closer to her.

He pulled her onto his lap, pushed her hair to the side, and kissed her neck. She could feel his excitement pressing against her hip. His erection was trapped between his stomach and her side. He shifted his hips and rubbed himself into her. She sighed against his mouth, but then he pulled away.

"Claudia." The sound of his voice was both desperate and breathless. "I could take you right here, but that’s not what I want."

"It isn't?" She didn't mean to sound disappointed.

"Let me rephrase that." He moved her to sit beside him. "I would want nothing more than to have my way with you right here, but I don't think either of us intended it to be that way between us the first time."

"You think about our first time?"

"Every second of the day." He shrugged. "I'm a guy."

She laughed, but realized he was right. She'd gotten carried away. It was the way he looked at her, the scent of his body wash, all spice and cinnamon, that drove her crazy.

"It's your fault," she said. "You're irresistible."

"I was thinking the same thing about you."

She shook her head and looked down. She felt his fingers on her chin in an instant, and then she was gazing into his eyes. She loved those blue depths. They were soothing and made her forget everything she had on her mind.

"You really need to take my compliments better. I speak the truth." He kissed her. "I'll keep telling you how perfect you are and eventually you'll believe it."

She would never believe it. A perfect woman wouldn't lead a man like Brody on. A perfect woman would tell him the truth. She was far from perfect.

~Review~
Something More is a novel, but its one of those novels that you will want to read in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. And Ella Jade ended each chapter in a way that I had to know what was going to happen next. The author has a tag line on her website : Get Lost In My Words . Mrs. Jade certainly delivers on that!

In this story we meet Claudia who is the housekeeper. She is innocent and one of the brothers prays on that innocence and begins an affair with her, leaving Claudia pregnant. When she tells Gavin, he denies the child and leaves her to be. One evening, the pregnancy has began to wear her down and she falls asleep on the guest bed. I loved this part, because its when the hero of the story, Brody, gets his nickname for her, Sleeping Beauty. Brody is drawn to her from the beginning and has to have her!

Claudia and Brody begin a relationship, but the baby lurks between. Can Brody overcome the fact that she is carrying his brothers baby?

Brody is one of my favorite heroes that Ella Jade has written. He will make you swoon. In fact, I think he's flawless and perfect and I wonder if there is a Brody store somewhere where I can get one just like him. :) If you've read Ella Jade before, you will want this one. If you haven't, then I think this is a great book to start with!

Master of the Inn By Ella Jade Interview + Giveaway

Pleasure Inn… Where all of your fantasies become reality.

Executive chef Elyse Clapton has had it with city life. She’s spent the last few years building her cheating boyfriend’s trendy New York City restaurant into a success. When their relationship ends, so does her desire to be in his kitchen. She flees to a quaint inn she remembers visiting as a child. She gets more than she bargains for when she meets the sexy, reclusive inn keeper.

Handyman Logan Cole inherited Pleasure Inn against his wishes. Ever since he got caught up in a scandal involving another man’s wife, he keeps to himself – finding solace in a bottle. He didn’t realize how lonely he’d become until Elyse shows up on his porch. He’s instantly drawn to her and convinces her to stay at the Bed and Breakfast.

Elyse comes to town looking for a getaway. She never expects to fall for Logan. It doesn’t take her long to believe the inn’s motto. Logan’s dominance in the bedroom makes all of her fantasies a reality.

Interview:

How did you come up with the concept of your book?
I wanted to do a series of short stories set at Pleasure Inn. The first book, Master of the Inn sets the stage and introduces the reader to Logan and Elyse. This will be the longest book in the series at around 25k and the others will vary in length; anywhere between 8-12k.  We get to see how the inn came to be. Each book that follows will center on guests at the inn but we’ll get to see Logan and Elyse’s relationship progress.

What is your ideal writing environment?
I like to sit at my kitchen table and gaze out the window. My yard backs up to a golf course so it’s like having a park in my backyard. It’s very tranquil and I can get lots done there especially when my kids are at school.

Do you write while you listen to music?
No, I need total silence. I’m a dialog girl, so I need to stay focused on the conversations in my head. I need as little distraction as possible. LOL

If you could collaborate with any author who would it be and why?
I don’t think I could collaborate. My ideas and plots are set in my head. I may make some variations while writing but for the most part, I know where I’m headed and where I’ll end up. I have trouble giving up the control.

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Don’t give up! No matter how many rejection letters you get, keep moving forward. Know your market and your publishers and you will find your book a home.

Excerpt:
A light came on in an upstairs window indicating someone was there. Elyse walked up the front steps and tried the door, but it was locked. Just as she reached for the bell, the door flew open and a large, muscular figure appeared. The old screen door and the absence of lighting in the foyer concealed his face.

“Hi,” Elyse said. “I was driving by and wondered if you had any vacancies.”

“Here?”

“This is an inn, isn’t it?”

“It hasn’t been for over four years.” He turned on the porch light. “I thought everyone in this town knew that.”

His disheveled appearance made her think he wasn’t planning on entertaining visitors. His dark, thick hair looked as if he’d run his fingers through it causing it to stand on end. He hadn’t bothered to button his faded blue jeans or put on a shirt before answering the door. Elyse couldn’t help but notice how his well-defined abs disappeared into his waistband.

“I’m sorry.” She moved away from the entrance. “I’m intruding.”

“No.” He stepped out onto the porch in his bare feet. “I just didn’t expect anyone out here at this time of the night.”

“I drove from the city. I thought I might stay the night. I used to come here as a kid.” She looked past his shoulder into the foyer. She saw a fresh stack of wood in the corner and several cans of paint. “Are you renovating?”

“Trying to.” He nodded. “It’s a work in progress.”

She caught a wave of alcohol on his breath.

“Are you just passing through?”

“I’m not sure. I just needed to get away and I remembered how perfect this place always was.”
“Yeah,” he looked over his shoulder. “Not so much anymore.”

“What happened?”

“My uncle owned the place, but he couldn’t keep up with the maintenance. He and my aunt retired and left it to me. It’s just been sitting vacant since then. It needed a ton of work. I didn’t realize how much until I actually started ripping things out.”

“How long have you been renovating?”

“A little over six months.”

“Well, thanks for your time. Maybe I’ll visit when you’re finished,” She smiled encouragement, but disappointment filled Elyse’s heart at the thought of not staying there. “Good luck with the renovations.”

When she turned to leave, he stopped her with a hand on her shoulder. “Wait.”

When she turned, his ice blue eyes held her gaze. The intensity there made her stomach flutter. It should have been a warning sign to run fast and far, but her body responded in other ways. The sensation he created from just one touch coursed through her system, landing straight between her legs.

Oh my…

“For the past few months I’ve been renovating the third floor. If I’m going to live here and run this place, I wanted my rooms to be done first before I started on the rest of the inn. There are two bedrooms up there; both have private bathrooms. You could stay if you want.”

“That’s very nice of you, but—”

“Your room has a lock.”

As if that would keep you out. You have the keys.

“I’m not ready to have guests yet, so I wouldn’t charge you.”

“I couldn’t, but thank you.”

“You drove all this way to Pleasure Inn. There isn’t another place for miles. Spend the night and then you can leave in the morning.”

She wasn’t familiar with the surrounding area and the drive had made her tired. What if she couldn’t find another place to spend the night?

“I don’t blame you for being cautious.” He shrugged. “You do what your gut tells you: but you’re more than welcome to stay here.”

She stared into his deep eyes for a few moments. She’d left the city to get away and forget about the disaster of a relationship with Phillip. She’d done nothing but work for years. She hadn’t been to a restaurant or on a vacation in months. She was too busy cooking for others. Would one night in a beautiful Victorian inn be so bad? How could it be, especially when the inn keeper looked like a goddamned Calvin Klein model?

“I’ll stay on one condition.”

“Sure.”

“You have to tell me your name.”

“Oh.” He ran his fingers through his hair and smiled for the first time since greeting her. “Forgive my manners. I’m Logan Cole.” He extended his hand to her.

“Nice to meet you, Logan,” She said properly as she shook his hand. “I’m Elyse Clapton.”

“Welcome to Pleasure Inn, Ms. Clapton.” He dipped his head as he held the door open for her. “Where all of your fantasies become reality.”

Silent Night, Unexpected Night by Ella Jade + Giveaway

Ever since his divorce several years ago, Dr. Tanner Rhodes has spent Christmas Eve alone. He has a tradition; he sits by the fire, sips his brandy, and falls asleep by the lights of the tree. When his son Aiden's beautiful friend, Sofia, shows up unexpectedly at his door bearing gifts, everything changes. When had Sofia become a woman?

Excerpt
You're going to make this hard on me, aren't you?” An uneasy smile graced her pouty lips.
“I'm sorry, but you have to clarify this for me.”
“I know you spend this night by yourself every year. I usually do too because of my dad's work schedule. I didn’t see why either one of us should be alone tonight.” She leaned closer to his face allowing him to take in more of her enticing scent. “I wanted to be with you. I mean, I want to be with you.”
He continued to run his fingertips along her cheek and jawbone indulging in the feel of her soft skin. “You didn’t want me to be alone? That's very sweet.” Perhaps he had misunderstood her intentions. For some odd reason, disappointment filled him again. Maybe he wanted her to admit to more.
“You probably think I'm crazy. I swear I'm not a stalker.”
He laughed.
“I don’t know what it is, but I'm very intrigued by you.” When she looked away from him he sensed her embarrassed over her words. Obviously, it took a lot for her to come to him tonight.
He pressed his palm to her face. “I was thinking the same thing about you.”
Her big brown eyes widened as he raised her head to look at him.
“I'll be honest, I haven't given you much thought through the years, other than you being my son's shy, awkward friend, but tonight when I saw you, I couldn’t believe the woman you've become. You're breathtaking.”
She shook her head.
“You don’t believe me?” He twirled a stand of her hair around his finger. “Why not?”
“No one's ever said that about me before.”
“Hmm.” He didn’t know what possessed him, but he brushed his lips against her jaw. He had to know if her skin would be as soft to his lips as it was against his fingers.
She quivered as he lingered against her face.
“Still cold?” he asked.
“No.” She stared directly into his eyes. “Quite the opposite.”
“Can I kiss you?”

Excerpt
As Claudia placed the last throw pillow on the bed, she couldn’t help but think how inviting it looked. It was a little after three o’clock, and she still had an hour to work, but she was so tired, and her back was sore. She just needed to sit for a moment. She knew Angela was down at the stables and wasn’t due back for a bit, so she sat on the edge of the bed and closed her eyes.
She was only eleven weeks pregnant, but that little baby was sucking every last ounce of energy from her body. The afternoons were the worst. All she wanted to do was cuddle on the couch in her tiny apartment and sleep for an hour or two. She leaned back and sunk deep into the soft mattress. Her bed at home was nowhere near this comfortable. Everything was spotless and pretty in the guest bedroom. The sunlit room smelled like fresh-cut roses. The soft pink tones adorning the walls and curtains lulled her into a deep state of relaxation.
The last thing she remembered was the white of the ceiling before she heard a voice pull her from her unintentional slumber. She felt a warm hand on her arm. As soon as she opened her eyes she realized what had happened.
She’d fallen asleep, on the job, in a guest bedroom of a home she was hired to clean. As she gazed into his stunning blue eyes she tried to recover from her nap. She’d never noticed how clear his eyes were. Then again, she’d never been this close to Brody Callahan before.
“Is everything okay, Ms. Samson?” He pushed a strand of his thick, dark hair from his forehead. He and Gavin had almost the same messy kind of haircut, but Brody’s hair was darker and tamer.
Claudia stood from the bed much too quickly. The room swirled around her and then she lost her balance, falling against his hard, muscular chest.
“Whoa.” He caught her by the forearm, staring down at her with concern. “Are you okay?”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Callahan.”
Could my day get any worse?

EXCERPT

“I’ve been jittery all day, but my aunt helped me overcome those nerves.”

“Your aunt?”

“She referred me to Madame Eve. She said I needed tonight.”

“Well, I’m glad she hooked you up, but why would such a beautiful girl need to use a

service?” He didn’t mean to be nosy, but a woman who looked like her shouldn’t have a problem

finding a date.

“Oh, well I….” She twisted her finger around the ends of her pigtail. Now he wished he’d

put a condom in his pocket. If she kept that up, they’d never make it to the bedroom. “I’ve had a

rough time.”

“I didn’t mean to pry. I’m curious.”

“That’s okay. Can I ask you a question?” She chewed on her bottom lip.

“Sure.” He fought the urge to bite her lip.

“How old are you?”

“Does it matter?” He closed the space between them on the small sofa. “You wanted an older

man, didn’t you?”

She nodded.

“I’ll be forty-one in two weeks. You’re my birthday present to myself.”

“Oh.” She swallowed hard.

“Am I too old for you?” Please say no.

“No.” She stared into his eyes.

“Are you thirsty?”

“Huh?”

“Would you like some champagne?” As much as he wanted to kiss her, he needed to slow this

show down. “You are old enough to drink, I hope.” He brushed her soft cheek, wondering what

the rest of her felt like.

“Is that your way of asking me how old I am?”

Passion's Pain by Ella Jade

One woman…two men. Who will she choose? The father or the son?
Lilli Daniels has been down on her luck for quite some time. She's been homeless, hungry and alone for far too long. When an intriguing, older stranger enters the strip club where she's waitressing her life takes on a new direction.
Successful attorney Jackson Avis maintains complete control of every aspect in his life. When he lays eyes on the beautiful, young Lilli he's captivated and has to have her. He tempts her with a life of privilege and security. He introduces her to a world she never knew existed. Complications arise when Jackson's son and aspiring doctor Cameron expresses an interest in his father's girlfriend.
Lilli fights the attraction, but Cameron wants to give into his heart's desire. He's the complete opposite of his controlling, manipulative father and will stop at nothing to protect the woman he's falling in love with.
Sometimes life leads you down one path only to bring you to your true destiny. Can Lilli come to terms and figure out exactly who her heart belongs to?

Excerpt
Lilli glanced down at the floor for a few seconds before looking up and giving Jack a small smile. Her long black hair fell down the center of her back and curled slightly at the ends. Her eyes were a most alluring color. Jack couldn’t tell for sure in the dim lighting, but they almost appeared violet. He’d never encountered such a unique woman before. He knew right away a girl like her didn’t belong in a shit-hole like this.

“What would you like?” She looked down at the pad she held and waited for his order.

“For you to have a seat.” He got up, pulled the chair out, and then motioned for her to sit.

“What? No, I can’t. I’m working.”

Jack looked around and noted it wasn’t that busy.

“I think you can sit for a few minutes.” He smiled. “Pat said you should give me what I want.”
“I-I don’t do that.” She shook her head. "Some of the other girls here do, but not me."

“I’m only asking you to sit and I rarely ask twice.” He felt a sense of relief knowing she didn't prostitute herself to the customers in this disgusting place. “Please.”

“Just for a few minutes.” She looked around the bar and then quickly took a seat.

“It’s nice to meet you, Lilli,” he said. “Do you have a last name?”

“I do.” She was too busy looking into his eyes that he thought maybe she forgot to finish answering.

Jack smiled and cleared his throat when he realized she was staring at him.

“Oh, it’s Daniels.”

“I see. What do you do besides work here, Lilli Daniels?”

“I work at the bookstore over at the community college,” she said. “I’m hoping to save enough money to take a few classes there in the fall.”

“It’s only January,” Jack said. “Why wait so long?”

“Classes are expensive.” She nervously fidgeted with the cocktail napkin sitting on the table. “So, what do you do?”

“I’m an attorney. I have my own practice in the city.”

“Oh, that sounds interesting. I’d like to study law someday, too.”

“A pretty ambitious goal.” He teased. “How old are you?”

“Twenty-two.”

Well, at least she's legal. But, for a girl working in a strip club trying to save money for school, she seemed awfully naïve. He briefly wondered if it was an act to get men to feel sorry for her. Maybe she knew exactly how to get a bigger tip out of her customers.

“Getting a bit of a late start with school, aren’t you?” Jack asked. “My son is about your age and he's in medical school.”

“My father’s not an attorney.” She ran her fingers through her hair and Jack immediately recognized she was uncomfortable when she mentioned her father. The lawyer in him needed to investigate a little further.

“What does your father do?”

“Are you ready to order?” she said. “I should be getting back to work.”

“Not just yet.” He wondered why she changed the subject so quickly. “I’m curious as to what a girl like you is doing in a place like this.”

“Me, too.” She looked around the dark room. “I fell on some hard times and I’m just trying to get my life back together. It’s honest work.”

“What kind of hard times?” He was trying not to interrogate her, but he wanted to know more about her.

“I can tell you’re a lawyer.” Her full pink lips curved into a smile. Jackson wondered what it would feel like to have her mouth against his. She was probably soft and warm.

“It’s in my nature to ask questions.” He wanted to know more about this beauty.
“Do you always get your answers?”

“I always get everything I want.” He let his eyes wander down her body. She was flawless, but he shouldn't have been entertaining any possibilities at all. But then again, when did he ever let anything stop him from getting what he wanted?

Jack reached into his pocket, pulled out his business card, and handed it to her. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. “I have to get back to the office now, but I’ve rather enjoyed your company. If Pat gives you a hard time, please give me a call. I’ll set him straight.” He knew he should leave her alone. He wasn't sure he’d be interested in getting involved with a girl in her situation, but he wasn’t ready to walk away. Not yet.

She glanced down at the card. “I went to high school with a Cameron Avis.”

“Did you date?” That would be far too amusing.

“Oh, God no.” She laughed. “He was a year older than me, popular, and would never give a girl like me a second glance. I was from the wrong side of the tracks.” She rolled her eyes.

“Hmm.” Jack began to get a clearer picture of who Lilli was.

“I was shy and kept to myself,” she said. “He was gorgeous, smart, and came from money. Definitely not my type."

“Really?” Jack grinned as he got up from the table. “It seems to me I’ll have to have a talk with my son about not recognizing a good thing when he sees it.”

“Oh.”

Make Me Stay

Can the sub teach the Dom to play?

Natural submissive Gracie Miller thought she had found her other half in Cade Jameson. Not only did he help her through a difficult time in her life, in the bedroom he brought her more pleasure than she could have ever imagined. They seemed perfect for each other.
Cade knew what he wanted in the bedroom. Gracie brought out his domineering side and ignited his passion. But he feared he was too dominant for this beautiful, naïve girl, who was so young and impressionable, so he ended their relationship.
Two and a half years later, Gracie returns to town a new woman. She had moved to the city and found a "Master" who showed her what she was truly capable of. Now she's back and wants to show Cade exactly what kind of submissive she could be for him.
But after hearing all that she's experienced, Cade now wonders if he's dominant enough to satisfy her. Can he be the man Gracie needs him to be?

Content Warning: graphic sex, BDSM themes

Excerpt:
Ten minutes later they were seated at a quaint restaurant in the center of town. Cade had requested a quiet table in the back so they wouldn't be interrupted. He was confused enough and didn't need any distractions. Being a well-known businessman, he was always running into people who wanted to have a drink with him. Gracie's return would probably be the talk of the town in a matter of days.

Once they ordered dinner and the waitress poured their wine he'd had enough small talk. He wanted answers.

Why did you come back?

I told you. Gracie sipped her wine. "I took a job here."

Do you think I'm stupid?

Of course not. She lowered her head.

Don't do that.

Do what?

Just look at me. He was puzzled over her return and her elusiveness frustrated him.

She quickly raised her gaze, meeting his eyes.

You walked away from this town without a trace. I don't believe you would come back after all this time to consult. Something isn't right.

You told me to leave.

Me! He tapped his chest. "I told you to leave me. I never expected you to disappear. I thought I'd know where you were and what you were doing." Even though he told her to go, he'd always intended to take care of her.

Without you, there wasn't anything here for me. You were everything. I had no family. I lived in your house. Where did you expect me to go?

We could have figured it out together. I would have made sure you were taken care of. She'd always been his responsibility and when she left he panicked she'd end up on the street.

I needed to go. I had to figure out who I was. That's what you wanted.

I wanted you to be happy.

I am. She smiled. "I told you, I met someone who helped me."

Then why aren't you with him? He didn't like to think about her with another man. It infuriated him to know someone else touched what was his, even if he did let her go. "Are you running from him? Is that why you're back here? Do you need my help?"

She laughed. "I could never run from Martin."

He hated knowing his name. "So, Martin was your boyfriend?"

"Not really." She took another sip of her wine.

Her mysterious behavior pissed him off. She'd better start talking and fast.

Your husband? He felt his blood boil. Could she have gotten married?

Cade, she said as she reached for his hand. "I don't want you to freak, but Martin was my Dom. I was his submissive."

Book One in the Steeple Town Series.

Excerpt

"Have you decided if you're going to stay in Steeple for a bit?" Jenson

asked. "We don't want you to leave."

"I don't know." Lila sipped her soda. Her stomach had been unsettled since

coming back. She wanted to believe it was the funeral, but she knew better.

"You shouldn't be alone," Cali said. "We can help you clean out the house."

When Lila moved her father in with her, she'd hoped he'd one day be able to

return to Steeple, so they'd left most of his belongings in the family home.

"What are you going to do with the house?" Jenson asked.

"I haven't made any plans yet." Lila sighed. "I grew up in that house. All of my

memories of my parents are in there." Lila's mom had passed away when Lila was ten,

but she remembered everything about her.

"That's why you should stay and take your time." Cali placed a bottle of water in

front of Jenson. "We'll be here for you."

Lila nodded. It wasn't as if she had anything to go back to the city for. She'd been

laid off from her teaching job, because she hadn't earned tenure, and the new teachers

were always the first to go. She'd kicked around the idea of going back to school to get

her doctorate. Her father had left her more than enough money to live comfortably for

quite some time.

"I don't know." Lila played with the straw in her drink. "There are so many

memories here."

"Screw the sheriff." Cali was always so protective of Lila, especially when it came

to Trevor. "Don't let Trevor run you out of this town again."

"He didn't run me out the first time," Lila said. "I wanted to go."

There was no way she could stay and watch him marry another and raise a child.

"Bullshit." Cali wiped down the bar. "You switched schools and never looked

back. You never came back to us."

"What was I supposed to do?" Lila asked. "Stay and watch him marry her?

Congratulate them when the baby came?"

"You could have fought harder for him, if you really wanted to. Not that I think

the pig was ever worth you." Cali had never forgiven Trevor for getting Mary Grace

pregnant.

"Cali," Jenson said, "none of that matters anymore. Lila is over it."

"Sure she is." Cali knew Lila well. As much as Lila tried to forget Trevor, she'd

never gotten over the love she'd lost. First love really did die hard.

"Okay, guys," Lila said. "It's been a long week and I have a headache." She

couldn't deal with any more today.

"I'm sorry." Cali grabbed her hand. "You know I love you. I don't want you to run

back to Boston because you're afraid to face him. I miss you, and I want you to stay.

This is your home."

"Me too," Jenson said. "Stay with us."

"I'll think about it, but right now I want to head home and take a hot bath." Lila

picked her bag off the bar and slipped off the stool. "Thanks for being there for me this

week. I couldn't have planned everything and made it through the funeral without either

of you."

"We'll always be here for you." Jenson hugged her. "I'll call you later and see if

you want me to bring you dinner."

"Thanks, but I'm going to crawl into bed and sleep all night. I'm beat. I'll stop by

the book store tomorrow." Lila leaned across the bar and kissed Cali's cheek. "I'll be

fine."

"I know what you're capable of." Cali smiled. "You'll bounce back. You always

do."

"Talk to you tomorrow."

As Lila walked toward the door, she dug into her bag for her car keys. She wasn't

watching where she was going as she stepped into the entryway of the restaurant. She

slammed into a hard, muscular body, dropping the keys to the floor.

"I'm so sorry."

She kneeled down to pick them up, feeling like an idiot for bumping into

someone. When she stood up, she was met by a warm smile and those beautiful green

eyes. He could still take her breath away.

"Hey, Lila."

Blurb: Can an arranged marriage lead to love?
Recent college graduate Gabriella has finally married the man of her dreams, the older, charismatic attorney Lorenzo Martinez. She's had a crush on him for as long as she can remember and always imagined they'd one day find their happily ever after. Unfortunately, they enter into a union arranged by their fathers.
Lorenzo is charming, protective, and loyal to his crime lord father Carlo. When Carlo asks Lorenzo to marry Gabriella he jumps at the opportunity. He's been drawn to her for many years and knows by marrying her he's helping to protect her father.
Gabby is resentful and won't be Lorenzo's charity case. But sparks fly and the couple soon gives into their desire, realizing they were meant to be together.
What happens when Carlo's enemies threaten their future? Will someone get caught in the crossfire?

Ella Jade excels at story-weaving, and she doesn't disappoint with her newest release Crossfire of Love. Gabriella's the young daughter of a mob boss's gardener, Lorenzo is the son of said mob boss, they couldn't be any more different, yet at the same time very quite similar. Lorenzo is a lawyer and Gabriella has just graduated from college, her life is anything but perfect. When her father asks her to dissolve his debt with Carlo by marrying his boss's son Lorenzo. She is not happy at all with the arrangement, though she goes along with it, for the sake of her father...

Crossfire of love is a must read. It is highly engaging, passionate and charged with danger. The chemistry between between Gabriella and Lorenzo is smoking hot and electric. I adored the flashbacks, especially those centering around Gabriella's interactions with Lorenzo's Mother Alexa, as well as the first time she met Lorenzo.  It was a easy read, very difficult to put down as the story progresses you get drawn further into the world of Ella Jade.

Overall it was a stellar read and I give it a 4 1/2 out of 5.
